Cycle-tour "From City to City"
July 18 – 20, 2003

Aim:

To study, become acquainted and make popular the cycle-tourism possibilities along the coastline of the Baltic Sea in the territory from Ventspils to Klaipėda. To involve in the activities local municipalities, tourism information centers, enterprises providing different tourism services (different camping places, hotels, museums, historical sights, etc.), as well as local inhabitants. To encourage the development of the necessary cycle-tourism services in this territory. To educate local inhabitants about this healthy recreation possibility and share with the experience by implementing different interesting projects in future.

Length of the route: ~ 220 km.

Take-off place: Ventspils, Rātslaukums (Town-hall square).

Take-off time: July 18, 2003 at 10:00.

It is possible to participate in any part of the tour by informing the organizer about the chosen part in advance. Due to the fact that there will be crossing of a border of Latvia – Lithuania, children under age 18 may participate in the cycle-tour only with parents or authorized persons. 

The necessary stuff:

1.       Passport (if crossing the border);
2.       Technical passport of the bicycle;
3.       Safety cap (if possible), backup inner tire, air-pump;
4.       Individual set of first-aid;
5.       Raincoat, sleeping bag, latex rug.

Way back

  • July 20 – with the organized bus Klaipėda – Liepaja – Ventspils (departure at 21:00). 
  • July 21 – without assistance after overnight in Klaipeda (with public transportation, private car, bicycle or other way).

Ceremonious welcoming and greeting will take place in Ventspils, Jurkalne, Pavilosta, Liepaja, Jurmalciems, Palanga and Klaipeda.

Participation fee: Ls 7.50 (for person) – this includes: 

  • Way back with buss (Klaipēda – Liepāja – Ventspils) - Ls 3,00 for person.
  • Tent places in Pavilosta, Jurmalciems, Klaipeda - Ls 0,50 X 3  nights = Ls 1,50.
  • Common supper in Pavilosta, Jurmalciems, Klaipeda - Ls  1,00 X 3 days = Ls 3,00.

In case if applying for just a part of the tour, the fee is accordingly lower. In case another accommodation place is chosen the payment for tent places is counted off.
